Evaluation is the process that encourages you to show an understanding of the kernel by analysing the purpose of the text. Evaluating requires an understanding of not just the mental ability of the text, but also an understanding of a texts purpose.
At university to be critical does not mean to rap in a negative manner. Rather it requires you to question the learning of the text and present you evaluation and your judgement of the text.
Critique should be a balance discussion and evaluation of the strengths and weakness of the text.
